In short, HitTail explicitly tells you what to write about in your blog or website in order to grow your natural search traffic most effectively. There's a demo at the site which explains it pretty well.
Other differences include the fact that HitTail shows you your hits in real-time with enough detail to precisely reproduce their visit. To say it's addicting is an understatement.

Yes- it is addicting, and I use the keyword suggestion tool often now that I have a reasonable amount of hits to evaluate and I get traffic from each of those topics I write on. And when you are stuck on what to write about, it is a great resource. Plus to see where your traffic is coming from is a plus too- you can see who is linking to you and see how they searched for you and where you ranked when they searched is beyond helpful.
It is FREE which makes it even better. They do have an upgrade too.

Oh how exciting! I'll have to stop by your blogs, dig a little deeper and see what I can do to help. As you can tell, you've found yourself a whole community full of blogging moms who work at home. I'm sure if you need a few words for the gods that be in Oprah's world, you'll find PLENTY here

Hmmm... very interesting demo. The only thing I'd be concerned about is writing based on the suggestions versus writing for my readers.
I guess you would really have to make sure you strike a balance. I know when I check my stats and I look on the keywords people find me for, I'm thinking, "huh?" Once in a while they find me based on things totally unrelated to the topic.

Yeah, sounds a lot like the requests I get for website reviews. They SEE my blog, SEE what I write about and still ask me to do a review on Spanish Villas or something crazy. Drives me crazy!! LOL

I just found the blog post on Mike's blog and it is strange- I was on his site right after I started using hittail in the forum section. But I do use hittail's suggestions. I am writing for suggestions from my readers- you get a range of things that helped people find your blog or site (we have it on the Smart Mom site too). If they are clicking on your site, they are your readers. Of course you are not going to write something off the wall. It really has been so helpful in getting more hits from people looking for specific information. And, like google analytics, you can see where your referrals are coming from.
Mike is speaking in our Smart Moms Pro-Series in the fall, so keep looking out for the dates!
