I have a friend who was about to pay $200 and then $90 a month to get her name at the top of search engines...I told her NO WAY. I said you can set up your own campaigns if you want to on Google or Yahoo...or better yet, build a good site and get those keywords working FOR you. Was that good advice?
She is supposed to email me the link to this site that she was going to do it through...

Absolutely EXCELLENT advice! Besides I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere in ultra small print, or buried in the terms&conditions there is some clause stating "Results are not guaranteed".
She could spend that money on advertising and getting her links, etc. out there, as well as what you told her in working the keywords to get them to work for you!
